Law Faculty of UMM Lecturer’s Contribution in 2020 International Law and Religion Symposium

A senior lecturer of law faculty, Cekli Setya Pratiwi, LL.M., M.C.L., has invited by the International Center on Law and Religions Study (ICLRS) of Brigham Young University, the United State of America to share her thoughts on her experience working with and collaborating  that has been done since 2010 till todays between Law Faculty of UMM, PUSAM UMM, and the ICLRS

In this year (2020), the ICLRS held the 2020 International Law and Religion Symposium at Brigham Young University Law School from 7 October to 9 October 2020. The participants all over the world were invited to contribute in this event, share their knowledge and experience on the issue of human rights in general, and the right to religious freedom in particularly during the Covid 19 outbreak. The program is welcomed by Professor Brett Scarffs (a BYU Law Professor). He is also the supervisor of Cekli Setya Pratiwi. Cekli Setya Pratiwi as a former of fellowship scholar and the delegation of Law Faculty has remarked that this collaboration is tremendous important to build the good understanding of the people in global community with multicultural backgrounds, such as race, religions, languages, nationalities, etc., to work together, respect and help each other, and tolerant to make the world a better place. Historically, since 2010, PUSAM-UMM and Law Faculty of UMM and the ICLRS as well as Oslo Coalition of Human Rights has been done annual program on Master Level Course on Shariah and Human Rights. This program has been arranged to conduct educations and trainings for 30 young lecturers, graduates students, NGOs, leaders organizations all over Indonesia to learn about Sharia and Human Rights. The program has been successfully recognized by International partners such as the ICLRS and its partners around the worlds, and Oslo Coalitions of Human Rights at University of Oslo, Norway. The program for the first time was initiated by PUSAM-UMM under the leadership of Professor Syamsul Arifin (Vice Rector of Academic Affair of UMM), and then its followed up by satuHAM (Center for Human Rights Studies) Law Faculty of UMM.
