Dean of the Faculty of Law of UMM Issued a New Book to Prevent Corruption Crime

Malang (6/1) - Corruption is often referred to as an extra-ordinary crime, because its model and character are different from conventional crimes in general. Therefore, how to prevent and eradicate it must also be extra-ordinary.
 
Judicial Obstacles to Eradicating Corruption was finally chosen by Dr. Tongat, SH., M.Hum, Dean of the Faculty of Law of UMM, as the title of the book published by Amerta Media. The new book, which is written based on experience as a resource as well as a practitioner in the field of criminal law, is hoped to be able to help law enforcers to prevent and eradicate corruption in Indonesia.
 
"The substance in the Corruption Eradication Law is often the cause of the prevention and eradication of corruption itself. Unfortunately, this problem has been repeated in every revision of the Corruption Eradication Act, starting from the independence era until today. Corruption Act. " Said Dr. Tongat.
 
Law enforcement against criminal acts of corruption is not an easy matter. Mokh also agreed to this. Najih, P.hD, one of the founders of Malang Corruption Watch (MCW) who is also an academic at the Faculty of Law of UMM. Najih added that the problem with the substance of the Corruption Eradication Act is now getting worse with the new KPK Law. Thus, this is reflected in the low number of corruption cases disclosed recently.
 
Apart from discussing the substance or textual norms in the Corruption Act, the book by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of UMM also reveals the important role of Corruption Law enforcers, such as the KPK and its staff.
 
"We need to appreciate the performance of the Corruption Eradication Commission as an anti-rasuah institution in Indonesia today. However, they certainly now have a somewhat limited authority with the revision of the KPK Law. Hopefully through this booklet, there will be more review and amendments to the textual norms on the Corruption Act." Said Dr. Tongat.
 
In addition to making a book entitled Juridical Constraints on Corruption Eradication, Dr. Tongat, SH., M.Hum at the same time also released his new book entitled The Ability of Criminal Law as a Means to Prevent Crime. Dr. Tongat is known to be diligent and productive in writing. On the sidelines of carrying out his daily activities as Dean of the Faculty of Law of UMM, Dr. Tongat always takes the time to write.
