Biography:

Prof. Dr. Rahayu Hartini, S.H., M.Si., M.Hum. is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) since June 1, 2011 with expertise in Bankruptcy Law. With Rank/Grade: Main Advisor/IV E, since November 19, 2014.

She completed her Bachelor of Law education at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta in 1988, then earned a Masters in Sociology from the UMM Postgraduate Program, Malang in 1998, and a Masters in Law from the UMM Postgraduate Program in 2006, Cumlaude, the Best Graduate at UMM with a study period of 1.5 Years. Graduated with a Doctorate in Law from the Airlangga University Postgraduate Program, Surabaya in 2010, Cumlaude and graduated in 2 years and 9 months. Prof. Rahayu has also been an Outstanding Lecturer at UMM 5 times (1999, 2000, 2005, 2011, 2012) and was a National Outstanding Lecturer Finalist representing Kopertis VII Surabaya in 2012.

As an academic, Prof. Hartini actively teaches courses including: Bankruptcy Law, Commercial Law, Business Law, Civil Law, Transportation Law, Insurance Law at the UMM Faculty of Law. She is the only Professor in Bankruptcy Law (2011) in Indonesia. Therefore, the woman who is usually called Prof. Yayuk is often asked to provide expert testimony in bankruptcy cases at various Commercial Courts in Indonesia (Surabaya District Court, Central Jakarta, Medan, Makassar), Civil and Corruption Cases at the District Court as well as the Regional Police and Resort Police. He was also asked to be an Expert at the Central Jakarta District Court regarding the PKPU Application for the State-Owned Company "Garuda" in 2021. In addition, Prof. Rahayu has written several books, one of which is entitled "Bankruptcy Law" which received an award in writing a Textbook from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education in 2003 published by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. His scientific works have been widely cited, showing his significant contribution in the field of business law and bankruptcy in Indonesia. Throughout his academic career, Prof. Rahayu has consistently been active in conducting research and analysis on various problems in the field of business civil law, including: Bankruptcy of BUMN Persero, Legal Aspects of Bankruptcy of BUMN Persero in the Perspective of State Financial Law, Reconstruction of Bankruptcy Law with Arbitration Clauses Based on Pacta Sunt Servanda in Bankruptcy Dispute Resolution as an Effort to Renew Fair Law. Competency Grant Research for 3 years (2013-2015): The Position of Arbitration Clauses in Relation to Absolute Competence Against Bankruptcy Disputes and the results have been published in books, etc.

Prof. Hartini is a productive writer, has published many scientific articles in national and international journals, and written books. Books by Prof. Hartini include: Bankruptcy Law (2007), Aspects of Business Law (2012), Commercial Law (2010), Transportation Law (2012), Bankruptcy Dispute Resolution with Arbitration Clause (2009), Theoretical Model for Development of Competence Conflict Resolution Study (2010), Harmonization of State Finance Concept and Indonesian Bankruptcy Law (2011), BUMN Persero (2017), Position of Arbitration Clause and Absolute Competence in Bankruptcy (2023), Cross-border Bankruptcy: Concept, Challenges and Regulatory Updates (2025- on Process). She actively participates as a speaker in workshops/trainings, PKPA for Bankruptcy and Arbitration Law, national and international seminars. International Experiences include: UKM (2009), Trento-Italy (2011), NUS-Singapore (2012), UST- Manila -Philippines (2014), University of Philippines- Cebu (2014), UM-Malaysia (2014), UUM-Malaysia (2014), UTHM- Johor Malaysia (2016), Royal of Cambodia University- Cambodia (2017), University of Philippines Diliman, Philippines (2018), FUU UKM, Malaysia (2019), UM-Malaysia (2019). Most recently, he was a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law -National University of Malaysia (FUU-UKM), October 2023 with a paper on the results of the PKIP Research "International Arbitration Award as a Simple Proof Requirement in Bankruptcy in Indonesia". In her academic role, Prof. Hartini is also involved and active in professional organizations, namely as a Manager: Steering Committee in the Drafting Team for the Contract Law which is being prepared by the Association of Civil Law Lecturers (APHK-2016), Becoming a Manager of the Association of Civil Procedure Law Lecturers (ADHAPER-2019) as Chair of the Cooperation Division, which is preparing the Civil Procedure Law Bill and has entered the 2024 Prolegnas, becoming a Member of the Association of Islamic Economic Law Lecturers and Researchers of Indonesia (APPHEISI-2018), Expert Council in the Kepri Lawyer Club Indonesia (2020), Member of the Association of Muslim Communities in ASEAN (AMCA-2012), BANI Arbitrator (2022), Mediator and Arbitrator of LAPS SJK-OJK (2022), Member of MedArfin (2022). Becoming a reviewer/bestari partner/editorial suggestion in several national journals, including: Legal Certainty and Justice (KHK- UM Palembang), Jurnal Hukum Officium Nobile (JOHN- UNAS).
